I was inspired by two greeting cards that I found from my deceased Mother of twenty one years. The words on the cards were so heart felt, but the most sentimental part was that she hand-wrote a personal message to me inside of them.

There it was my mother’s penmanship with words from her heart to mine. It brought tears to my eyes. I was now holding in my hand a piece of history that my mother held in her hands while thinking specifically of me.

Soon after, childhood mentor passed away. Suddenly I was flooded with numerous phone calls of "What could we do collectively to honor her?"  My response was, I can write a poem.  Then I suggested that everyone send me one or two sentences of their love, memories or favorite thing about her, and they did.  All fifteen of them. I read each submission and the master piece was created.  I was proud. It was healing.  It was good. But not only that, it had lifelong meaning as well.  It was all the things that she was to all of us in a creative form that would live forever.
